IEEE-CS SWEBOK Guide V4 draft is now available for End-to-End Public Review (Comments Closing 16th February 2024)! IEEE-CS SWEBOK Evolution Team (Chair: Prof. Hironori Washizaki) seeks end-to-end public review comments for Version 4 of the Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK Guide V4).

The newest version of the SWEBOK Guide includes new topic areas, updated topic descriptions, and the retirement of no longer relevant topics. Agile and DevOps have especially been incorporated into many knowledge areas (KAs). Three new knowledge areas (i.e., Software Architecture, Software Engineering Operations, and Software Security) guide foundational knowledge in software engineering.

New Year’s Resolution 2024

  • Summary of 2023: “Year of breakthrough”
    1. Society and Community: IEEE-CS 1st Vice President, IPSJ SIGSE Chair,  and ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC7/WG20 Convenor. Hosted international conferences IEEE CSEE&T, DSA, and IEEE AVS. SWEBOK Guide evolution. 
    2. Projects: 10+ research and education projects. The sustainability transformation of SmartSE has been accepted for the large MEXT fund.
    3. Publicity and Achievements: 3+3 journal papers, 26+3 international conference & workshop papers, 1 book, 2 proceedings, 1 special issue, 1 leaflet, 33 keynotes and invited talks, and 17 awards.
    4. Team: Our team has grown larger and more diverse. Multiple exchange students have stayed and had exemplary achievements in collaboration.
  • Vision of 2024: “Year of international advancement and leading
    1. Society and Community: IEEE-CS President-Elect, IPSJ SIGSE Chair, and ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC7/WG20 Convenor. Organize and contribute to IEEE Cybermatics, IEEE ISSRE, IEEE COMPSAC/SIoT, IISA, and AsianPLoP. Publish SWEBOK Guide V4. 
    2. Projects: AI/LLM/FM security continuum, JSPS KAKENHI-funded ML pattern, JSPS KAKENHI-funded ML-supported maintenance and evolution (ME-ML), JST MIRAI-funded eAI framework, Smart SE, K-12 STEM education, and Goal-oriented digital business research with mostly international and industrial collaborations. Plus 5+ industry-supported projects. Synergy with international society and community activities.
    3. Publicity and Achievements: Push forward with innovative research extensively to be recognized internationally as one of the leading research teams in intelligent software engineering for systems, business, and society through stronger industrial and international collaborations and getting more considerable funds, resulting in providing much value to society and contributing to bodies of knowledge. 
    4. Team: A world-class professor will soon join our team. Expect new students and exchange students from various countries, resulting in much diversity contributing to our team’s creativity to advance the projects and professional contributions.

2024年の抱負

  • 2023年のまとめ: 躍進の年
    1. 学会・コミュニティ:  IEEE-CS第1副会長、IPSJ SIGSE主査、ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC7/WG20 Convenor。国際会議IEEE CSEE&T、DSA、IEEE AVSホスト。SWEBOKガイドの改訂。
    2. プロジェクト: 10以上の研究・教育プロジェクト。スマートエスイーのサステナビリティ・トランスフォーメーションについて文部科学省事業に追加採択。
    3. 発信・業績: ジャーナル論文3+3本、国際会議・ワークショップ論文26+3本、書籍1冊、プロシーディングス2冊、特集号1冊、リーフレット1冊、基調講演・招待講演33件、受賞17件。
    4. チーム: 私たちのチームはより大きく、より多様になりました。複数の交換留学生が滞在し、共同研究において優れた業績をあげました。
  • 2024年のビジョン: 国際展開・リードの年
    1. 学会・コミュニティ: IEEE-CS次期会長、IPSJ SIGSE主査、ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC7/WG20 Convenor。IEEE Cybermatics、IEEE ISSRE、IEEE COMPSAC/SIoT、IISA、AsianPLoPの開催と貢献。SWEBOKガイドV4の発行。
    2. プロジェクト: AI/LLM/FMセキュリティ・コンティニュアム、JSPS科研費MLパターン、JSPS 科研費 機械学習支援ソフトウェア保守進化(ME-ML)、JST未来社会eAIフレームワーク、スマートSE、K-12 STEM教育、ゴール指向デジタルビジネス研究会など。さらに、5つ以上の産業支援プロジェクト。国際的な学会・コミュニティ活動との相乗効果。
    3. 発信・実績: システム、ビジネス、社会のためのスマート・知的ソフトウェア工学において、国際的にコミュニティをリードする研究チームとして認知されるよう、産業界や国際的な連携を強化しつつ研究を創造的に幅広く推進し、より多くの資金を獲得し、また結果として、社会に多くの価値を提供し、知識体系に貢献します。
    4. チーム: 世界トップクラスの教授が間もなくチームに加わります。様々な国からの新入生や交換留学生に期待し、その結果、プロジェクトや専門的な貢献を前進させるためにチームの創造性に貢献する多様性が生まれます。
